Course Registration
By completing the registration form it only indicates an expression of interest and does not commit you to enrolling on the Certificate in Professional Studies in Media.
This website is part funded by the European Social Fund through the Learning Skills Council. Without the support of the fund, UCE would be unable to deliver this activity. It should be noted that UCE is obliged to report to the European Union details of students enrolled on the Certificate in Professional Studies in Media.
Course fees are £150.00 for each module, with the exception of MED16 (Advanced Skills), which is £500.00. These fees need to be paid before the course commences.
Sixty credits are needed in order to receive the Certificate in Professional Studies in Media.
Enrolled students will be classed as part time and are entitled to receive an NUS card.
You must successfully complete and pass MED01 'Effective Studying' and complete the required enrolment paperwork before proceeding with other modules.
Pass grade is 40% for each module.
UCE shall not be liable for any loss of earning or opportunities as a result of studying the Certificate in Professional Studies in Media.
Additional terms for student's receiving a grant
Fees are wavered if you reside in the Objective 2 [http://www.objectivetwo.co.uk/] regions of the West Midlands and work as a sole trader or for a small to medium enterprise (less than 250 employees, annual turnover less that £24.7m, balance sheet is less than £16.7m and that other firms do not own more than a quarter of the company). You will be required to complete certain forms and provide evidence to be eligible.
If you withdraw from the Certificate in Professional Studies in Media you may be invoiced for incomplete modules.
You must provide fully completed timesheets otherwise you will be liable for the module cost and shall be invoiced for £150 (£500 for MED16). Such charges shall be payable within 28 days of issue of an invoice from UCE.
User Contributions
There are various features within the web site that allow students to submit information for either public display or private display by another student. You must comply with the following terms when using these features:
- No soliciting, advertising or promotion of goods or services.
- Contributions must not be unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, obscene, profane, sexually oriented or racially offensive. Contributions should contain no inappropriate use of other peoples names and must not intentionally cause harm or upset.
- Contributions must be constructive, civil, tasteful and on-topic where appropriate. Students must show patience and understanding with other users of the site as students with different abilities and ages use this site.
The site administrators reserve the right to edit, delete or remove student contributions at any time and without notice.
Any student who is found to have contravened the terms of use may have their student privileges withdrawn.
Privacy Policy
This policy covers how UCE treats personal information that it collects and receives, including information about your grades, progress and profile.
Your user name and password must not be given to any one else under any circumstances.
Cookies will need to be enabled in order to use the secure 'student only' area. The cookies are used to track the amount of time spent on the e-learning modules. This information will be displayed on your 'my progress' page. For further information about cookies visit www.aboutcookies.org.
UCE automatically receives and records information on its server, this includes logs from your browser, your IP address, cookie information, and the pages you request.
Data Protection Act 1998 - The information provided may be shared with European Social Fund, Learning Skills Council funders, Government Office (West Midlands) and UCE auditors for administrative, audit, statistical and research purposes.
UCE does not rent, sell, or share personal information about you with other people or non-affiliated companies.
If you receive a grant you may in some cases be visited by the Government Office (West Midlands) audit team to look at payroll and financial details.
Once enrolled on the Certificate in Professional Studies in Media the follow details will be displayed on the secure 'student only' area of the website: first name, surname, photograph, profession, location (not address), core business, general interests, work related interests, modules, favourite expression, favourite film, favourite celebrity and star sign.
Web site administrators and personal tutors can access all personal information provided by a student.
Module leaders only have access to personal information that we believe is strictly necessary for them to do their job.
We reserve the right to send communications relating to the registration, such as, relevant events, administrative messages and email newsletters.
You can edit your personal profile at any time.
Privacy of children's information: The Site is intended for and targeted at individuals over the age of sixteen (16) only. If you are under the age of sixteen, you are not permitted to use or access the Site, including without limitation, any public forums (such as chat rooms, message boards and the coffee break area).
